Chamber to hold Human Resource seminar

Posted: Friday, September 28, 2012

As a business leader, your success depends upon your ability to bring people together, getting them to work together, and to produce maximum results in the shortest amount of time. Positive results come from “discretionary effort.” Good leaders know that “unleashing” an employee’s discretionary effort comes from the ability to connect with each member of the team, to motivate and to fire up their desire to succeed.

Most employees want to do a good job. However, those same employees can become distracted, disengaged or de-motivated. Traditional command and control methods have become ineffective, especially with a younger workforce. So, what can be done about it? Plenty. Learn how to apply the six E’s of Mastering Employee Engagement: Envision, Empathize, Enhance, Empower, Evaluate, and Encourage. Explore the eleven drivers of employee engagement which influence discretionary effort, inspire employee willingness to participate, contribute and consistently do their best work.

Learn how to recognize the warning signs of disengaged employees and how to neutralize their impact on others. During this workshop we will discuss how validation and focus on progress events can influence employee trust, performance and motivation. Learn proven action steps to deliver fact-based, results-oriented, motivation and feedback to your employees. Participants will discuss how to handle real-life situations, address concerns and choose actions to drive higher levels of employee engagement, performance, and results. This hands-on workshop will encourage the sharing of best practices, experiences and techniques, which can help you to improve your leadership skills, increase your personal job satisfaction and reduce stress.

The seminar will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at Victory Noll Center. Cost is $50 per person. The event will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude around 11 a.m. A continental breakfast will be available for all attendees. If you or your employees would like to attend this valuable seminar, please RSVP to skimmel@huntington-chamber.com or call the office at (260) 356-5300. Please make all checks payable to the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce and mail to 305 Warren Street, Huntington, IN 46750.
