Chamber to hold ADA seminar on March 15

The Chamber of Commerce will hold an American with Disabilities Act (ADA) seminar on Friday, March 15 at the Pathfinder Services North Campus at 2824 Theater Avenue. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. with lunch and the speaker to follow.

The guest speaker will be Stephen Metzer, AICP, PWS, who will discuss “ADA Compliance for Employers and Employees.” This seminar will include the ADA requirements related to employment for both Title I and Title II of the ADA for both public and private employers.

In this presentation, Metzer will present material about various forms to include applications for employment, postings (EEOC), job announcements, documents (Employee Policy Manuals), job descriptions, reasonable accommodations, policies and practices that are important to have service animals, dressing rooms, fees and surcharges that are or not allowed. The presentation will also include employees in wheelchairs and mobility devises. Metzer will also discuss effective communication with customers with disabilities, access into buildings, parking requirements and more.
