Chamber holds Third House Forum

Posted: Friday, February 22, 2013

The Chamber of Commerce held its Third House Legislative Forum on Saturday, February 16. State Senator Jim Banks, 50th District State Representative Dan Leonard, Mayor Brooks Fetters and County Commissioner President Leon Hurlburt all participated in the informative session. Mike Perkins, Parkview Huntington Hospital Foundation director and Chamber board member, served as the moderator for the event.

The Chamber of Commerce asked members for questions before the event and each attendee was given the chance to ask questions by writing out their question on a sheet of paper. It was then distributed to the moderator by Steve Kimmel, executive director, Huntington County Chamber of Commerce.

The questions for the event revolved around the right-to-work law, K-12 school expenditures, road and bridge repairs, income tax, Hoosier Heartland Corridor, city-wide cleanup and more. Approximately 25 persons attended the informative session. The event was held at the Huntington City-Township Public Library from 10 a.m. to 12 noon with the elected officials answering questions one-on-one after the Forum was completed.
