Chamber holds seminar on social media

The Huntington County Chamber of Commerce held a Lunch ’N Learn Seminar in small business training that included social media, branding and search engine optimization. The seminar took place on Thursday, April 24 at the Horace Mann Education Center, 2485 Waterworks Road. The seminar had thirty-two individuals in attendance.

The workshop was a lecture-type workshop that was presented by Mona Lill and Amy Huguenard of MarketTek.com. According to Lill and Huguenard the most powerful social media source is Twitter with more than a billion users followed by LinkedIn with 277 million. Lill and Huguenard went on the say the video market has also become large in the past few years with more than 1.3 million videos viewed per minute. The seminar was designed to allow the business owner or manager the opportunity to explore social media including the application of Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, Pinterest and YouTube in a small business setting. Also discussed in the seminar was how to “brand” your business, the recent changes in Google and how it affects your business and information on how to increase your internet presence via search engine optimization.
