Chamber holds healthcare seminar on PPACA

Posted: Friday, December 21, 2012

Businesses and individuals interested in learning more about the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) attended the Huntington County Chamber of Commerce seminar on Friday, December 14. The event addressed topics concerning the Affordable Care Act and took place at the Habecker Dining Commons at Huntington University with lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m. The program began at 12 noon followed by a time for the audience to ask questions.

The speaker for the day was Mike Ripley, a healthcare expert from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce. Ripley covered the following topics: what employers need to know for 2013 regarding the PPACA, impacts of PPACA for 2014 and beyond, update on the State of Indiana implementation of Healthcare Reform and how it may impact employers, compliance issues facing small businesses, efficiencies, the uncertainty, what the state’s plans are, exchanges and how they work and the Medicaid expansion.

The Chamber would like to thank the fifty-five individuals for attending this event and we hope to have a follow up in the first part of 2013 from the provider’s side of the Healthcare Act. More information for the seminar to be scheduled in 2013 will follow.
