Celebration, Healthy Steps events cancelled

Posted: Friday, March 20, 2020

Parkview Huntington Hospital (PHH) and Parkview Huntington Foundation leaders announced that two upcoming events will not take place as scheduled. The Parkview Huntington Community Celebration, which was to mark the 20th anniversary of Parkview Huntington Hospital’s service to the community in the current hospital facility, was planned for March 27. That event will be rescheduled for a later date, according to Mike Perkins, foundation director.

Healthy Steps, PHH’s semi-annual health and wellness fair, had been scheduled for April 18 at the hospital. That event has been cancelled. The fall Healthy Steps is anticipated to take place on October 3 from 7 to 10 a.m. as scheduled.

“Out of an abundance of caution, and in keeping with Parkview Health’s move to practice social distancing to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, we are cancelling these events in the near term,” said Juli Johnson, president of PHH. “We want to help community members and our co-workers stay as healthy as possible and limit close contact with people that can occur in large groups.”

Parkview Huntington leaders are following guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and choosing not to host events of size for at least the next two months.
