Café of Hope to launch Carousal at Café

Café of Hope, 900 E. State Street, will launch a microcreamery to be called Carousel at Café on Monday, September 26. Carousel at Café will begin selling Carousel Ice Cream and has planned a launch party that evening to begin at 6 p.m.

Carousel Ice Cream is a microcreamery located in downtown New Haven, Indiana. Carousel produces hand-crafted premium ice cream in 24 quart batches. There are no automations used in their process. Carousel measures and touches all aspects of production with no machines or auto injected ingredients.

According to their news release, Carousel’s butterfat content is between 13 and 14 percent. For ice cream to be called ice cream in the United States (by FDA standards) the treat needs to contain at least 10 percent butterfat; soft serve is not considered ice cream. According to Carousel, they only use fresh ingredients whenever possible and available. For example their Oreo Banana ice cream is one of their biggest sellers and each batch is made with five pounds of bananas and four rows of Oreo cookies.

In 2016, Carousel started making Vegan ice cream. According to Carousel, they use coconut milk for the process as vegan products cannot contain any animal products. Any ingredients used in making Vegan ice cream must comply with all laws and cannot come from any animal. The Vegan ice cream also serves customers who are lactose intolerant.

Carousel began selling all natural fruit pops in 2015. They make all natural frozen ice pops with their biggest seller being strawberry and strawberry pineapple. Seasonal fruit drives the flavors we make.
