Brightpoint available to help veterans

Posted: Friday, November 11, 2016

Brightpoint of Fort Wayne serves veterans and their families who are homeless or facing eviction through its Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program. Brightpoint serves veterans in 26 counties, including Huntington County.

The veteran in the household must have been other than dishonorably discharged from the military and be facing problems with their current housing situation. Families who are eligible can receive assistance in locating and securing stable housing; temporary financial assistance with rent, security and utility deposits and other housing-related costs; assistance in obtaining VA benefits such as vocational and rehabilitation counseling, employment and training services and education benefits; and support and resources in difficult situations.

Veterans who think they might qualify should call (260) 423-3546, extension 285, to take an assessment and learn eligibility requirements. Brightpoint is a private non-profit organization. Donations can be made at www.mybrightpoint.org/give
