Brianne Morrison named VITA supervisor

Pathfinder Community Connections is pleased to welcome Brianne Morrison to the Huntington staff as the Site Supervisor for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. Morrison graduated from Huntington University in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Bible and Religion.

Originally from Greeley, Colorado, Morrison has lived in Huntington for the past several years. She has previous experience in local community development working with the Boys and Girls Club of Huntington County and other not-for-profit work.

Morrison’s position as Site Supervisor for the VITA program includes recruiting, coordinating and supervising volunteers including training all volunteers. She will also schedule meetings with volunteers and eligible families. Additional responsibilities include marketing VITA and educating eligible families in the community that the program is a free service. Morrison will develop marketing strategies and material for additional housing, health and education resources for clients.

Those preparing tax returns must be certified by the IRS and knowledgeable of tax regulations that are adhered to in order to file IRS compliant returns. Quality reviews of tax returns are performed for accuracy.

The free tax preparation program begins on Tuesday, January 29 and continues through Monday, April 15. Volunteers can work as many hours as they desire and tentative hours for the program are Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. until noon.
