Posted: Friday, February 6, 2015

The Chamber of Commerce held a Breakfast Showcase on Tuesday, February 3 at the Habecker Dining Commons on the campus of Huntington University from 7:45 to 9 a.m. The showcase featured The Berg Ale Haus and Parkview Huntington Family YMCA.

Kristi Adkins, general manager of The Berg Ale Haus, shared with the attendee’s information about Huntington’s newest restaurant. She showed photos of the building prior to remodeling and how that building has been transformed into a building with much class and beauty today. The Berg Ale Haus is located in the former Heidelberg.

Adkins went on to say, “The building has been completely renovated from the inside out, from the dining room to the bar room and kitchen. A lot of the work was done by co-owner, Eli Gearhart.” Adkins also shared the items available on The Berg Ale Haus menu and photos of those entrees. Plans for spring time include an outdoor patio in the midst of the restaurant.

Tim Allen, marketing director of the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA, highlighted the features of the facility and the many programs offered. Allen shared with the group how the “Y” likes to be a part of the family’s life. “We are here to make lives healthier and give the family something positive to do.”

Allen went on the share the different programs that are available, from 50 years of Kim League basketball, swimming, dance, exercise classes, to special instructional classes including nutrition and more. Allen encouraged everyone to come out to the “Y” for a visit. He concluded, “If you have never been to the “Y,” just visit us and see what we have to offer. I think you will like what you see. For the individual that may not be able to afford membership, we always have scholarships that we offer to help those that are unable to attend because of the costs.”
