Bowl for Kids Sake to help BBBS

Posted: Friday, February 7, 2014

Big Brothers Big Sisters would like to invite Huntington residents to Start Something by participating in its largest fundraiser of the year – Bowl for Kids’ Sake.  Bowl for Kids’ Sake is a fun event where anyone in the community can take part according to Big Brothers Big Sisters. Big Brothers Big Sisters went on to say even if you don’t like bowling, it’s okay because this event is not about the bowling; it’s about helping local Huntington County children get back on the path to success. 100% of the funds raised go directly to helping match a Huntington County child in need with a mentor, according to its news release.

The concept is simple. Big Brothers Big Sisters is looking for “Team Captains” to get themselves and four other friends, family members or co-workers to form a team consisting of five total members. This Team Captain will then work with Big Brothers Big Sisters to reserve a date/time to bowl, and then encourage team members to raise pledges and then show up on the bowling celebration date chosen to enjoy free bowling, free snacks, free refreshments and awesome door prizes. Each team member is encouraged to raise $100 or more in pledges, and incentive prizes will be awarded to those that raise more. Depending on the amount raised, these incentive prizes range from T-shirts, Visa Gift Cards, Apple TV, Beats Solo Headphones or Beats Pills to Mini iPads and a grand prize of a 55” Samsung Smart TV and Blu Ray player.

Big brother Jeremy Penrod who is also a Huntington County ambassador and Bowl for Kids’ Sake advocate says, “I have been Bowling for Kids Sake since high school. It is a fun event for families, friends, and co-workers that also is making a difference in our community helping create more matches for Bigs and Littles.

Big Brothers Big Sisters are still looking for teams to fill the slot of 5 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, February 16. If you are interested in bowling please contact Big Brothers Big Sisters at (260) 456-1600 and ask for Kelly Grantham, toll-free at (888) 456-1600 or online at www.bbbsnei.org/bowl4kidssake for more information or to register a team. Your participation in this event will help to ensure that local children will be matched with a caring adult mentor to make a BIG difference in their life.
