Beacon wraps up Project Spotlight program

Posted: Friday, October 23, 2015

Beacon Credit Union recently wrapped up its fifth annual Project Spotlight Program, donating a total of $2,500 to five charitable organizations and projects in Huntington County.

Over two months, Huntington County residents logged more than 5,500 votes for charities or projects they would like to see win money from Beacon Credit Union, with funding going to the top five.

The winners are: First place — Helping Paws Pet Haven, Inc., $1,000; second place — New Life Ministries, $500; third place — Pathfinder Sweet Deals, $500; fourth place — Love INC, $250 and fifth place — Junior Achievement serving Huntington County, $250.

In past years, Project Spotlight has awarded grants to the top three in Beacon Credit Union’s 11 communities combined. This year, Beacon decided to award the top five in each of the 11 communities. In addition, the company implemented a Facebook component to the voting process to allow people to post who they voted for. The voting process was held during August and September, allowing anyone to vote for their favorite local charitable project or organization by in-branch voting slips or online.
