Join the Indiana Dream Center and the Awakening Church as they present a Back-to-School Bash on Saturday, July 31. The event will be held in downtown Huntington from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

“This will be the twelfth year the Indiana Dream Center and the Awakening Church has recognized the students as they prepare to return to school,” said Michelle Crone, executive director, of the Indiana Dream Center. She went on to say, “We have approximately fifteen organizations and businesses involved this year and everyone in Huntington is invited to come downtown and enjoy a day of fun and festivities. Stores will be open for your shopping pleasure and there will be food, games, car show and activities for all ages.”

The first block (where the Thrift Store is located) in downtown will host the Awakening Church for their shoe, popcorn and bottled water give-away; Central Christian Church will give away socks and Backpacks of Hope will have 400 backpacks and non-perishable food items available. The second block will have games and other fun activities while the third block will offer lunch along with a car show throughout the downtown area.

Other activities include vouchers for back-to-school supplies by the Youth Services Bureau; free ice cream provided by KFC; teacher grab bags from Faith Chapel United Methodist Church; Evang-A-Bears for children from Huntington University; free haircuts for children by 90 Degree Cuts and Diverse Kutz and free hot dogs, baked beans, chips and water by the Meal Ministry.

Parkview Huntington Boys & Girls Club will offer face painting; Joy Pleasers Clown Ministry will provide balloon animals; DJ Pat Teusch will be on hand to provide the music; Huntington City-Township Public Library will host the Bookmobile and games for children and Afterhours Indiana will hold a car show for everyone to enjoy.
