Author Matt de la Peña at Honeywell House

Matt de la Peña, New York Times Bestselling and Newbery Medal-winning author of six young adult novels, will present at the Honeywell House on Thursday, September 20 at 6 p.m. His novels include “Mexican White Boy,” ”We Were Here” and “The Living,” as well as four picture books including “Love” and “Last Stop on Market Street.”

Earlier during the day, de la Peña will be presenting during the student matinee performance to Northern Indiana teachers and students. That evening, he will be the guest of honor at the Honeywell House dinner for educators and others who are interested. A “meet the author” cocktail hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by dinner with de la Peña.

Seats are available for this special opportunity for teachers, however, seating is limited. In 2016 de la Peña was awarded the NCTE Intellectual Freedom Award. He received his MFA in creative writing from San Diego State University and his BA from the University of the Pacific where he attended school on a full basketball scholarship.

Mr. de la Peña currently lives in Brooklyn, New York. He teaches creative writing and visits high schools and colleges throughout the country.
