Two Parkview Huntington Hospital nurses have been awarded Jill Dreyer Scholarships for the spring 2015 semester. Justin Asher, of Huntington, and Ashli Pershing, of Wabash, received $750 toward their education costs for the current academic semester.

Asher is a registered nurse working in the hospital’s emergency department nursing staff. He is working toward his bachelor’s degree in nursing at Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne.

Pershing is a nursing assistant in the hospital’s medical/surgical unit. She is pursuing a bachelor of science in nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University.

The awards were announced by Mike Perkins, director of Parkview Huntington Foundation, which administers the Jill Dreyer Scholarship funds. The scholarship, funded by employee contributions, was established in 2004 in memory of the late Jill Dreyer, who had worked as a registered nurse at Parkview Huntington Hospital. Since 2004, the Jill Dreyer Scholarship program has provided $18,250 in assistance to 19 Parkview Huntington Hospital employees.
