Arts Initiative to sponsor “Dance through the Decades”

Posted: Wednesday, March 30, 2011

The Huntington Arts Initiative, Inc., will sponsor a dance on April 29 at the Knights of Columbus in downtown Huntington. Doors will open at 7:30 p.m. for the “Dance through the Decades.” Complimentary chips, pretzels and popcorn will be served, and a cash bar will be available throughout the night.

The dance begins at 8 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. with live music provided by The Remnants, a five-member group from Fort Wayne. The band will perform songs from the last 60 years. Everyone is encouraged, though not required, to wear clothing from a favorite decade for the evening.

Games and contests, including a chance to eat doughnuts and guess the number of nails in a container, will provide further entertainment with prizes going to the winners.

Tickets to this 21-and-over event are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. Check for more information, or call (260) 454-0449 to reserve tickets.

Proceeds from the event go toward the renovation of the buildings at the corner of Warren and Market Streets. These buildings, known as The Studio, comprise the first phase of the Arts Initiative in downtown Huntington. Plans call for a professional gallery for visual arts, a small not-for-profit theater, and arts-related classroom space, all in keeping with the mission of The Studio to enrich, to entertain and to educate.
