Arts Council honors four Riverview students

Riverview Middle School students, Taylor Jordan, Dylan Palmer, Emma Shenefield and Abagayle Wright were named Artists of the Month for October by the LaFontaine Arts Council. Each student was presented with a framed certificate of achievement.

Taylor Jordan is an eighth grader and the daughter of Thomas and Kimberly Jordan of Warren. Her art teacher, Brenda Betley, recognized Taylor for her “detail oriented work, trustworthiness and creativity.”

The son of Nathan and Nikka Palmer, Huntington, Dylan is an eighth grade band student in James Court’s class. According to Mr. Court, “Dylan is a leader and has excellent preparation habits. His skill on the multiple percussion instruments is very impressive.”

Emma Shenefield was nominated for her outstanding performance in Choir. According to choir teacher, Danielle Webb, “Emma is such a great leader and example for other students to follow. She is helpful and doesn’t mind helping and working with other students. She is a strong singer, willing student and has a great attitude. Her other awards include: Grandma Addams in the Addams Family Musical, Two Gold Solos, she was a member of the Huntington County Children’s Choir for many years and has been in Riverview’s musicals the past three years and has participated in the Circle the State with Song for two years.” Her parents are Jeffrey and Jamie Shenefield, Huntington.

Abagayle Wright, an eighth grader, was nominated by Chris Husband, Riverview TV communications teacher. He stated: “Abagayle is a hard working young lady that puts forth her best effort every day. I can rely on Abagayle to contribute with a positive and creative attitude. She works hard on and off camera to help produce an excellent show. Abagayle’s parents are Wilbur and Sarah Wright of Warren.
