Angel Corps ready for the Affordable Care Act

Posted: Friday, January 10, 2014

Rick and Dorian Maples, co-owners of Angel Corps, Dorian Maples & Associates and Home Nursing Services, have successfully passed the exam for the certification status of an Indiana Navigator. They plan to serve their employees, clients and families as resources for the enrollment process of Medicaid and private insurance marketplaces to complement their vision of enriching the lives of their clients and employees.

When the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) was signed into law in 2010, it not only introduced many of the changes coming to Medicaid and private insurance marketplaces, but also introduced the concept of Navigators. In Indiana, Navigators are selected, trained and monitored by the Indiana Department of Insurance. The Indiana Navigators are to serve as unbiased, knowledgeable resources that help reduce consumer confusion through outreach, education and enrollment assistance.

The management team for Angel Corps, Dorian Maples & Associates and Home Nursing Services has completed the 24-hour course of pre-certification for the role of Indiana Navigator.  The course instructor was Carla Baxter, Baxter & Associates Consulting Services. Baxter is approved by the Indiana Department of Insurance to provide the Indiana Navigator training.
