Amramp donating ramp to Abilities Abound Event

Posted: Friday, February 27, 2015

Amramp Huntington will be donating a ramp to the 6th annual Abilities Abound event hosted by the Northeast Indiana Disability Advocacy Coalition (NIDAC), on Friday, February 27 at the Courtyard Marriott ballroom in downtown Fort Wayne. The Abilities Abound event, which won the 2012 Community Spirit Award given by the Governor’s Council for People with Disabilities, raises awareness of the accomplishments of people with disabilities. The ramp will ensure that the event is accessible to all who attend.

“Amramp specializes in providing accessibility solutions for special events and residential purposes throughout Indiana and we are very proud to support Abilities Abound by providing the ramp,” stated Loretta Mottram, Sr. Director of Business Development for Amramp Huntington. “Whether you need a ramp for weddings, graduations, voting booths or other special events, Amramp has cost effective and timely solutions for those needs.”

The program features keynote speaker, Melissa Stockwell, the first female amputee in the Iraq War and U.S. Paralympian 3‐Time World Champion. Ms. Stockwell has been featured in Sports Illustrated, People, The Chicago Tribune and a Triathlon Magazine cover story as well as the documentary ‘From Baghdad to Beijing’ which chronicled her journey as a wounded warrior from the roads of Baghdad to the Paralympics Games. The program also includes the Business of the Year award which honors an area company that hires individuals with disabilities, fosters a supportive culture and has accessible facilities. In addition, winners of the elementary, middle and high school Abilities Abound essay contest will be introduced.

Registration is open for Abilities Abound. Event tickets are advance purchase only and available at www.AbilitiesAbound.org.
