After Hours and ribbon cutting at new Annex

Posted: Friday, January 29, 2016

The Huntington County Commissioners held an After Hours and ribbon cutting at the new Huntington County Annex on Monday, January 25. A ribbon cutting took place at 4 p.m.

Several of the county employees assembled for the ribbon cutting and the Chamber After Hours to celebrate the opening of the newly remodeled Hiner Transport office into the Huntington County Annex. The annex building is located at 1350 S. Jefferson Street.

During the ribbon cutting, County Commissioner president Tom Wall introduced several of the individuals that were involved with putting together the annex with the plans beginning back in 2014. Wall mentioned Greg Ricker, Huntington County Courthouse facilities manager, along with the DLZ Architect Scott Carnegie as instrumental in getting the project done.

The 9,000 square foot annex houses the Veterans Affairs Office, the Huntington County Department of Health, and the Purdue Extension office. Wall mentioned that Larry Buzzard was the person that actually “spearheaded” the move from their old location at 354 N. Jefferson Street to its new location. Buzzard said that last winter the county was pouring money in the old annex explaining that heating the building over the winter and making the necessary repairs when the heating system failed were very costly.

After hearing from several individuals who now have offices at the annex, all said the move was done easily and all are happy to be in the new facility.
