Posted: Friday, September 1, 2017

A Chamber After Hours was held by the Huntington City Fire Department yesterday, August 31. The event was held at the Etna Avenue Fire Station, 1333 Etna Avenue, in celebration of the Huntington Fire Department’s recent ISO 3 rating. Chamber members along with the community visited with firefighters and learned more about the services the Huntington City Fire Department provides and equipment they use.

A special ceremony was held during the After Hours congratulating the firefighters on receiving the ISO 3 rating. Mayor Brooks Fetters was on hand to explain the ISO rating and what it means in terms of insurance costs to businesses and residents of the city. Mayor Fetters said that those whose insurance includes fire coverage, should check with insurance agencies about receiving a rate reduction. The Mayor also congratulated city department heads involved in receiving the rating.

The fire department provided snacks and beverages for all those attending along with tours of Huntington’s largest fire house. Fire trucks were on display for all those attending to see. Safety measures and rescue techniques firefighters use at fires and in emergency situations were also explained.
