The United Way of Huntington County partners once again with Parkview Huntington Family YMCA to promote health and wellness in our community. The 9th annual Sprint Triathlon will take place Saturday, August 20. This year’s event will be held at the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA. This event is open to ages 14 and older with both team and individual triathlon options available.
“The Tri event allows us to focus on promoting health and wellness in a fun event, while creating an opportunity for athletes in and around the community to have a more competitive event with swimming, bicycling, and running in one event,” said Dr. Adam Drummond, United Way of Huntington County president and CEO.
Participants will tackle a 400-yard swim, a 13-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. Swimming will take place in the YMCA’s indoor pool. Biking will begin and end in the rear parking lot of the YMCA with the route following the hilly, rural roads of Huntington. The running portion of the race will also begin and end in the rear YMCA parking lot.
“The YMCA is happy to serve again as host for the sprint triathlon,” said Ben Davis, Parkview Huntington Family YMCA executive director. “As a partner with the United Way in the area of health and wellness, it is a great opportunity to showcase the benefits of physical activity and provide some fun competition.”
Check-in for all events is at Parkview Huntington Family YMCA. Registration and check-in begins at 6:15 a.m. on August 20 with race instructions beginning at 7:15 a.m. Timing chips will be used for all events.
