Posted: Monday, July 26, 2010
The Youth Services Bureau and Unilever Ice Cream have once again teamed up to host the 3rd Annual M.A.D. (Making a Difference) Dart Run to be held Saturday, August 28, 2010.
A motorcycle event, open to the public, will travel an estimated 100 mile route beginning and ending in Huntington. Dartboards will be placed along the course and participants will stop at various locations along the route to throw their dart at the board in a competition for prizes to see who can get the highest score. The cost to participate is $10.00 per person or $15.00 per couple which will also include a door prize entry. Those that pre-register will receive a free limited edition event T-shirt, pre-registration ends August 15, 2010. Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. at the Youth Bureau behind the Etna Avenue fire station in Huntington the day of the event. The run will conclude at the VFW Post #2689, 220 W. Park Drive in Huntington where food and refreshments will be provided free to the riders. Registration forms are available at the Youth Services Bureau from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday or online at www.ysbofhuntingtonco.org.
The community is invited to the after ride events that will take place at the VFW beginning at approximately 4:00 p.m. There will be music, concessions, raffle and a silent auction with great prizes.
The goal of the event is to raise necessary funds to continue to offer its M.A.D. summer camp program to children. The free, week-long day camp, is held in June and provides the opportunity for youth, especially those who might not otherwise get the chance, to get the camp experience – allowing area youth to gain valuable teamwork, leadership, and social skills.
