2017 Summer Library Program to begin June 3

The Huntington Library’s 2017 Summer Library Program is almost here. Titled “Build a Better World,” the program shines the spotlight on architecture, building, construction and engineering all summer long. The program kicks off Saturday, June 3 with a Construct-A-Con, where stations and activities will be set up by local organizations and groups that feature or highlight something related to “building a better world.” The construction-themed convention runs from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Huntington Library.

Starting June 3, anyone interested in participating in this year’s Summer Library Program can sign up at either library or on the library’s website at The summer-long program runs until July 22, is for all ages, and workshops and programs will be scheduled all summer long for those looking for ways to spend time away from the hot Indiana summer sun. The annual Friends of the Library Used Book Sale will begin Wednesday, June 7 with the Preview Sale for Friends members only from 5 to 8 p.m. The public is welcome to the sale Thursday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday, June 9 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 10 the sale will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with the sack sale starting at noon, and all books after 3 p.m. are free.

The sale will feature paperbacks and hardcover books in fiction and non-fiction varieties, vintage books and a sizable collection of like-new children’s books.
