11th annual United Way Triathlon set August 11

The United Way of Huntington County partners once again with Parkview Huntington Family YMCA to promote health and wellness in our community. The 11th annual Sprint Triathlon will take place on Saturday, August 11. This year’s event will be held at the Parkview Huntington Family YMCA. This event is open to ages 14 and older with both team and individual triathlon options available. Registration fees are $60 for individuals, $30 for students and $85 for teams. Participants will tackle a 400-yard swim, a 13-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. Swimming will take place in the YMCA’s indoor pool. Biking and running will both begin and end in the rear parking lot of the YMCA with the route following the hilly, rural roads of Huntington. Bicycle riding helmets are required.

Check-in for all events are at Parkview Huntington Family YMCA located at 1160 W 500 N. Registration and check-in begins at 6:15 a.m. on August 11 with race instructions beginning at 7 a.m. Packet pick-up is the day of only. Be prepared to sign a standard liability waiver for insurance purposes when you pick up your packet. Registrations received after 12 noon on Thursday, August 9 will be placed in the final swim heat. Registrations received after July 23 are not guaranteed a race T-shirt. There will be two water stations located on the course. The first will be located at the run exit of the transition area and the second will be at the half way point of the run course. Additional refreshments and snacks will be provided at the finish line.

Timing chips will be used for all events. Awards will be given at the closing ceremonies for age groups and overall top male and female finishers. For additional information, and online registration, please visit
