A new and unique event designed to foster understanding and acceptance of everyone in our community will take place on September 17. A “Harmony Feast” will be held in celebration of Harmony Day in the PNC Bank parking lot at Huntington Plaza Shopping Center from 5 to 7 p.m. Following the Harmony Feast, the Huntington North High School Vikings will kick off their Homecoming football game against Anderson around 7 p.m.

Harmony Day is a result of three years of collaboration by the Huntington Harmony Initiative, a group of civic leaders in conjunction with Huntington University, dedicated to “harmony” in all areas of our county... Read More...


First Farmers celebrates 125 years

First Farmers Bank & Trust announces a 125th Anniversary celebration at all bank locations during the week of Octobrt 4th through October 8th, 2010.

Branch office events will feature customer gifts, giveaways, themed contests, and refreshments. The week will be highlighted by a customer appreciation day on Thursday, October 7th.

Dr. Chubinski joins Parkview Physicians' Group

Parkview Physicians’ Group welcomes podiatrist Dennis J. Chubinski, DPM, of Inverness Foot Clinic, as its newest member.

Dr. Chubinski earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Loyola University of Chicago in 1973, and a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine from Dr. William Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine, Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, Chicago, Ill., in 1978. He served his post-graduate preceptorship at Wells Community Hospital, Bluffton, Ind.

Beginning September 14, 2010, urological services will be offered at Parkview Huntington Hospital’s Specialty Clinic by Fort Wayne Urology, a member of Parkview Physicians’ Group.

Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra to perform at Honeywell

WABASH, Ind. – The Wabash Valley Music Association welcomes the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra as they arrive in Wabash at the Honeywell Center on Sun., Sept. 12 at 4 p.m.

The performance will feature pieces such as “The Chairman Dances” and “Foxtrot for Orchestra,” by John Adams; “A Night Piece,” by Arthur Foote; “Fantasie Pastorale Hongroise, op. 26,” by Albert Franz Doppler; and “Beethoven Symphony #5,” and much more.  With conductor Christoph König at the helm, the orchestra performs more than 200 concerts each year at the historic Hilbert Circle Theatre and at Conner Prairie Living History Museum, as well as sites around the state... IBRC releases Labor Day statistics

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Just in time for Labor Day this Monday (Sept. 6), the Indiana Business Research Center in Indiana University's Kelley School of Business has offered some interesting facts and figures about the Indiana labor force.

There were 3.1 million people in Indiana's labor force in July 2010 (seasonally adjusted). Indiana's labor force ranks as the nation's 16th largest and accounts for 2 percent of the U.S. total.
10.2 percent of the Hoosier labor force was unemployed in July 2010. The unemployment rate for the United States was 9.5 percent for the same month.

Huntington, Ind.—Bicyclists from all over the Midwest are gearing up for the Seventh Annual Huntington Bicycle Challenge being held September 18-19.  The cycling event, organized by the Huntington County Visitor Bureau and 3 Rivers Velo Sport Bike Club, attracts both tour riders and competitive racers to compete for big dollars, or simply ride the course through beautiful scenic Huntington County.
